Nature Adventure Day Camp - Summer Camp Campfire 

 2019 DAY CAMP PROGRAMS

 

July 1 to July 5 - Biodiversity Bash

School's out and we're off on adventures! We will be tracking wildlife through the forest and learning the secrets of the native plants. This week will be all about the amazing habitats creatures call home!

July 8 to July 12 - PEEC Rocks!

We dig fossils! Join us for a gneiss week of camp where we will explore the unique geology of the Delaware Water Gap. We will search the local quarry for fossils. Junior and Senior Naturalist will take a trip to Sterling Hill Mining Museum. 

July 15 to July 19 - Salamanders & Spells

Back by popular demand! Campers will create wands, test new potions and maybe meet a dragon during their stay at PEEC. Join us for a magical all camp with Pocono Wildlife Rehabilitation Center. 

July 22 to July 26 - Water World

Beat the heat with this week of camp. We'll explore the ponds for fish and frogs, see waterfalls and get really wet! Campers should be prepared with swimsuits and creek shoes!

July 29 to August 2 -Counselor's Specialty

From outdoor survival to crafts galore. Our counselors have their top favorite games, activities and tricks to share with campers. This week we'll enjoy a variety of fun for a classic week of camp, ending with our favorite Counselor Hunt All-Camp!

August 5 to August 9 - Wild Child Challenge

Can your camper survive? We'll build debris shelters, make mud camouflage, and learn how to navigate the forest. Friday All Camp will feature lessons from Archery Addictions. 

August 12 to August 16 - Art in Nature

Nature is beautiful. This week we'll get up close and personal (and maybe a little messy) through creating natural and upcycled artwork. Campers will get inspired by a trip to Luna Park

August 21 to August 25 - History Hunters

Explore the past of the park and its people. We'll travel to Millbrook Village and High Point State Park to learn about how different life was only a few centuries ago!

AGE GROUP DESCRIPTIONS

 Age groups are based on the grade campers will be entering in fall 2019.

TIKE HIKE (3-5 year old with adult)

These specialty weeks are for those who would like there first experience with camp with a familiar adult. Tike Hikes will take little ones and their loved one exploring the ponds, making crafts and taking nature walks all with the guidance of one of our PEEC staff members. Sessions from 9:00am to 1:00pm with maximum group of 10 children plus their adult.

TADPOLE (4 years old - kindergarten)

Tadpole camp focuses on introducing young ones to the outside world. They will enjoy games, crafts and plenty of discoveries. Maximum group size is 12 children. 

POLLIWOG (1st - 2nd grade)

Learn by doing while exploring the outside world under the supervision of trained camp staff.  Your child will enjoy games, crafts, and outdoor discoveries in a group with a maximum of 14 children.

WET AND SLIMY (3rd - 4th grade) 

Wet and Slimy campers experience fun craft projects, games, hikes, and nature discovery sessions. Campers are encouraged to explore the natural world around them while being closely supervised by our experienced staff in a group of maximum 16 children. 

JUNIOR NATURALIST (5th - 7th grade)

Junior Naturalist campers participate in creative activities that nurture their natural curiosity about the environment, including interpretive hikes, educational games, fun projects, and much more! Thursdays feature an optional late-night program for an additional $10 that includes campfire cooking and ends at 8pm (van transportation is not available for the late night activity). 

SENIOR NATURALIST (8th - 10th grade)

Senior Naturalist camp weeks are designed to encourage campers to experience new things. Each week is filled with exciting adventures and challenges. The experiences they have and the skills they learn will prepare them for the future. Non-residential weeks include a Thursday overnight at PEEC's tent site and dinner over a campfire.

VOLUNTEER COUNSELOR (9th - 12th grade)

Our Volunteer Counselor program is a leadership position for young adults interested in working at summer camp, changing children's lives, and gaining real-life job experience. This is considered a training position and not a camper program, the applicant is responsible for communication and following through with the application process.
